Driving Demonstration
How to turn right
Turning right is more complicated, as you will usually be crossing a lane of traffic. What you have to do will depend a lot on the kind of road you’re driving on.
You should follow the same steps as for turning left. That means:
- Look out for pedestrians and cyclists.
- Signal right for at least 3 seconds.
- Turn when there is a safe gap in the traffic.
A safe gap is when you can pull into the traffic without other road users having to do anything to avoid crashing into you.
Remember to look over your right shoulder to check your blind spot.
You’ll also need to make sure your vehicle is in a safe position on the road before you turn.
