Profile

My name is Sr. Theresa Thao Nguyen, I am the oldest of eight children- six boys and one girl. My family live in Southern California about 45 minutes from Los Angeles and 20 minutes from Disney Land. The first major achievement of my life is to answer the Call of God to become a religious sister. I joined the Religious Order in St. Louis, Missouri in the summer of 1996. The second major achievement of my life is that I received a Certificate of Specialization Child Care in St. Louis, Missouri. I received B.A. in Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Sciences from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Lincoln, NE on December 18th, 2004. I had been an Art and Religion Teacher in Kindergarten to 3rd Grade at Cathedral of Risen Christ in Lincoln, Nebraska since 2005 to May 2017. I moved to Chicago, Illinois in August 2017. I had grown a wider circle of friends. I volunteered at Misericodia for a year; taught Religion to the fifth grades at St. Henry Church. I taught Confirmation to twenty three students at St. Gilbert in Grayslake. It had been an ongoing connection of all cultures and ages especially through my ministry at Holy Spirit Life Learning Center. As a program director, I implement and oversee all aspects of the programs and workshops that support and are aligned with the mission and objectives. Opportunities come by collaborating with Condell Hospital Eucharistic Ministry every third Saturday of the month. Once in awhile I volunteer at Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg and Libertyville, Illinois. During Pandemic I volunteered at the soup kitchen in Waukegan. I received my Spiritual Director certificate at Claret Center, Chicago. I also taught Holy Communion to 15 students at St. Anastasia School in Waukegan, Illinois. I came to St. Kitts in August 2021- My first Mission land! Overall, the Holy Spirit has guided me and supports me in thick-and-thin times. I often confirm myself to live by faith and look upon everything that happens to me and around me with the eyes of faith; for everything comes to me from God, either directly or indirectly. Through the grace of our Lord, this summer is my twenty six years in religious life. I have discovered the true beauty in joy of living a consecrated life, and knowing that this is what God loving will is for me. I am so thankful for my vocation: for the life of silence and prayer, for the service to community, and for the grace to continue to grow into the person that God is calling me. I am grateful for family and friends.
